On Sunday, September 2, 2018, Evan had an AVM (Arteriovenous Malformations) Aneurysm. An AVM is a complex tangle of abnormal arteries and veins. This abnormality caused blood vessels in his brain to spontaneously burst. Doctors were able to drain some blood and stabilize his condition until the next morning. The following morning a Nuerologist, specializing in Embolization (gluing of the vessels), was able to stop the bleeding in 75-80% of the affected areas. Evan may undergo another operation to embolize the rest of the affected areas. He is currently still at CHKD in critical condition but in the hands of great picu staff!
